About Empress 1908

Empress 1908 Gin is the brainchild of Victoria Distillers in British Columbia, Canada. Inspired by High Tea at the venerable Empress Hotel in Victoria, the gin is an infusion of 8 botanical herbs including the butterfly pea blossom. It’s the pea blossom that imbues the gin with a distinctive earthy note, as well as its vivid hue that has a stunning secret to reveal: by adding citrus or tonic, Empress 1908 is transformed from breathtaking indigo to a beautiful soft pink.

The Project

In 2018 we provided a brand ID update that included an overhaul of all major collateral pieces as well as revision of fundamental communications strategy to solve differences between Canadian and U.S. markets.

We also created a packaging system —the indigo colour of the gin may fade with exposure to UV—a new full-coverage box solves that problem.

Empress 1908 is an indigo-hued botanical that changes colour when mixed with tonic. Excellent product and lifestyle imagery, and the dramatic and beautiful gin make a powerful combination.
